Out of Darkness Houston is the most diverse city in the United States. Highlighting those who were forced to flee their homes due to war or persecution and have had the good fortune to make Houston their home, I made portraits of former refugees from 14 countries. The one thing they have in common is the violence they all have witnessed and the gratitude they feel for a country that has welcomed them into its fold
