Traveling with a humanitarian team to Tegucigalpa, we drove in Humvees for two hours to reach a village just 30 miles away. Throughout the day, children watched as teens played soccer on a rocky field. Toddlers played together, unaware of the tragedy that had struck. As clothes and shoes were distributed, almost all insisted on paying something for the items, even if only a single peso. And those who were sick, waited quietly in what seemed like resignation for the few medicines that were available.
